In 2002, through Valley Kingdom Ministries International’s Operation J.E.R.I.C.H.O., Elder Samuel Sams along with a group of believers walked the streets of the south side of Chicago in a community called Englewood evangelizing each week by blessing the people with prayer and Godly counseling. During that time, Elder Sams became connected to the residents in the community and felt much compassion for them. He believed wholeheartedly that the community was in need of a ministry that was faithful and could meet the needs of the people both spiritually and naturally. It was at that time he was inspired to begin a ministry in Englewood. Elder Sams discussed his vision with his pastor, Apostle H. Daniel Wilson, who was in agreement and began to make preparations to be planted.
On, January 21, 2003, Apostle Wilson planted Elder Sams in the Englewood community and established a Bible study. The Bible study quickly became a source for the people to gather and be made aware of the events taking place in their neighborhood. Pastor Sams affectionately named the Bible study “The Quest for Knowledge”.
On April 20, 2003, Apostle Wilson confirmed Elder Sams as the Pastor of New Birth Kingdom Ministries International. On this date, the 12 members of NBKMI became a unified appointed ministry, ready, willing and able to serve God’s people. To date, the membership has since increased to over 100 souls and it continues to grow.
In 2003, Pastor Sams was given a God inspired blueprint that called for New Birth Kingdom Ministries International to be a 21st century church that ministered to those in need on a greater level through providing a base for economic and social empowerment. Pastor Sams has vowed to see that vision come to its fullest fruition and help restore Englewood back to a thriving community rich with resources for all people of all backgrounds. Thus, our war cry is and always will be “We’re in the Wood to do some Good”!
In the short period of New Birth’s existence, we have managed to do great and mighty things: · Operation J.E.R.I.C.H.O. - 650+ souls ministered to
· Back-to-School Fair - 2200+ book bags and school supplies distributed
· Thanksgiving Blessing Day - 550+ bags of groceries and 200+ hot meals distributed
· Maria Women’s Shelter - Food, clothing, cleaning supplies, and much more are donated weekly
· Vincennes Seniors Center - Bible Study/Counseling is offered each week
New Birth Kingdom Ministries International has just begun its journey but continues to look in great expectation for all the awesome things that our God will cause to come to pass on our behalf! |
